IF man arrested in undercover drug bust

An Idaho Falls man was booked into the Bonneville County jail after attempting to sell drugs to a police officer.

Idaho Falls Police said Charles L. Schmidt,47, agreed to sell methamphetamine to an undercover officer via Facebook. Officers contacted Schmidt in the 900 block of Hoopes Avenue at around 10 p.m. Monday. He was found in possession of meth, methylphenidate hydrochloride, and drug paraphernalia.

Police said they also saw Schmidt attempt to delete messages between him and the undercover officer from his phone while he was being booked into jail.

Schmidt was booked for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, destruction of evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding Bonneville County warrant.

He is being held in the Bonneville County jail on a $50,000 bond.
