The Jefferson County Sheriff says two people were hurt around 10:30 Tuesday night when a man fired shots outside of his home.

According to Sheriff Steve Anderson, Bryce Anderson, 32, fired a rifle outside his home on North 3940 East. Sheriff Anderson wrote in a news release that a female, Kelly Knighton, 31, tried to intervene when Bryce Anderson attempted to fire a second round from the rifle. During that intervention, Sheriff Anderson says the gun discharged causing minor injuries to Bryce Anderson’s left hand and Knighton’s right hand.

Both victims were taken to EIRMC by private vehicle.
