Idaho Falls man arrested for felony attempted strangulation

Idaho Falls police arrested Jerad R. Contreras, 27, for felony attempted strangulation.

Police responded to a home in the 600 block of Westhill for a report of a domestic battery at around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The victim said Conteras grabbed her by the throat twice and caused her to pass out. She said he also grabbed her and threw her into a wall.

The incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday night at a residence in the 200 block of Maple Street, where Contreras was arrested.

Two children were present at the time.

Contreras was booked into the Bonneville County Jail for domestic battery in the presence of children and felony attempted strangulation.
