Man arrested with drugs and sawed-off shotgun

Pocatello Police arrested Dustin Thomas Sweeney, 31, after officers pulled over his vehicle in the 1300 block of North Grant at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

During the stop, officers saw a sawed-off shotgun lying on the floor next to the driver’s seat. Sweeney was prohibited from possessing the weapon.

Police later found Sweeney was in possession of 1.33 grams of heroin.

Another person was also in the car. Taylor Rae Lawrence,18, was found in possession of .77 grams of marijuana, .84 grams of methamphetamine, and two bindles consisting of .27 grams and .46 grams of heroin.

Sweeney was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, driving without privileges, and possession of a controlled substance.

Lawrence was arrested on two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
