Update: Name of man killed in construction accident released

Update 11/2/2016 4:30 pm: The Bonneville County Sheriff’s office has released the name of the man killed in a construction accident Tuesday. 59-year-old Werner Schmitt, of Idaho Falls, was killed when a trailer ran over him.

Schmidt was employed by Eagle Rock Timber Inc. at the time of his death. The sheriff’s office is still investigating his death at this time but believes it was caused by accidental circumstance.

Update 1:25 pm: The man who was run over by the trailer of a belly dump truck has died from his injuries. He had been taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The man’s name will be released by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s office after the family has been notified.

Original Story: A man is in the hospital after being injured in a construction accident near Bish’s RV in Idaho Falls.

Crews were working with a belly dump truck unloading gravel The man was operating controls behind the truck when the trailer somehow rolled over him.

The man was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment. His condition is not known at this time.
