Stories of Hope: Blackfoot girl shares brother’s story to cope

Megan Moore, is a senior at Boise State University hoping to one day work for a cause very dear to her, organ donation. Currently in her free time she goes around speaking about a day that changed her life- the day she lost her brother John, “being able to talk with others that have gone through it as well as helped and also I’ve met so many amazing individuals who have been organ recipients”, said Moore.

John had liver failure and was getting ready to start the process for a transplant, he didn’t make it long enough for that to happen. Instead, he became an organ donor shortly after he died.

“He’s always been a hero to me but now he’s a hero to two others,” said Moore about her brother becoming an eye donor for two different people. Moore said knowing he provided people with the gift of sight provided a silver lining in the wake of her brother’s passing, “nothing’s going to take john’s place but we still laugh and talk about him as if he’s there,” said Moore.

Moore wants to encourage other people to become organ donors to help out just as her brother did. If you’re interested in signing up to become an organ donor visit this link.
