Man responsible for starting the Henry’s Creek fire sentenced

Kristian Lopez, the man responsible for starting the Henry’s Creek fire earlier this year, has been sentenced to time in jail for the crime.

Magistrate Judge Steven A. Gardner sentenced Lopez to 180 days in jail with credit for time served(71 days). He also sentenced Lopez to pay a $1,000 court fine and 2 years formal probation. Judge Gardner also gave the prosecutors for the case 60 days to determine the total cost of damages caused by the fire and to propose the additional fines Lopez would need to pay.

Lopez caused the fire earlier this year when we was lighting bottle rocket fireworks out in the foothills in Bonneville County.

We’ll have more information on today’s sentencing on Local News 8 and KIDK 3 Eyewitness News tonight at 5 and 5:30 p.m.
