Water leak being repaired after garbage truck sinks in asphalt

A water line leak in Pocatello is now being repaired after it was found when a city sanitation truck sank into the asphalt covering the problem.

While gathering trash Friday morning, the truck sank about 14 inches into the asphalt at the corner of Mahogany Driver and Chokecherry Drive. Pocatello Street Operations helped get the truck out of the hole after about an hour.

After it was removed crews with the Pocatello Water Department were able to determine that the hole was the result of a leak and are now repairing the problem. While the work is completed, water service will be interrupted on Chokecherry Drive, Aspen Drive, Pinyon Drive and Mahogany Drive.
