Evening Forecast for Dec 3, 2016

Not a lot happening today in the weather with mostly gray skies, but big changes are coming as a winter storm moves in.

Tonight, mostly cloudy skies with a few light flurries in the eastern highlands. Lows mostly in the 20’s.

Sunday, mostly cloudy skies with rain/snow showers and highs in the upper 20’s and 30’s. Snow will start in the morning in the central mountains and spread to most other areas by the afternoon. Breezes will also pick up in the afternoon so blowing snow will be an issue. Snow totals will be as follows: 1-3″ in the Snake River Plain, 3-8″ in the mountain valleys, and 8-15″ in the mountains above 7000′.

Monday, mostly cloudy skies with a few lingering snow showers near the WY/ID state line. Highs will be in the 20’s.

Tuesday, a weak storm will slide through bringing a few snow showers. Highs will be in the 20’s and evening temperatures will plummet as cold air moves in.

Wednesday, scattered fog and VERY cold morning temperatures. Lows will range from the single digits in Pocatello and American Falls, to below 0 in the upper Snake River Plain, with the mountain valleys getting below -10. Make sure the kids are bundled up for school, and don’t forget outdoor pets.
