Bonneville High School students donate Christmas presents to families in need

Bonneville High School has completed its Adopt-A-Family project. Students donated money and bought gifts to support families in need of a little help this holiday season. Those presents were loaded into a Bonneville County Sheriffs’ truck and delivered Tuesday.

“Adopt-A-Family is a project to help the in-need families in our community. We provide Christmas presents for their kids, which includes clothes, normal toys, bikes. Sometimes we help the family, like this year we provided tires,” said Emily Moyer, a Bonneville High School senior.

This is Moyer’s senior project, and she also received donations from all over the community. Bill’s Bike and Run donated bikes, Les Schwab Tires donated four tires and an alignment, and a local business gifted $500. Moyer and other classmates started raising funds in October.

“Some classes raised more. Ms. B’s class raised only about $1,500. Ms. Pilgrim — one of our math teachers here — raised almost $2,000. And then from each Five-Minute Fundraiser, we raised about $300 to $400,” said Moyer.

The school was able to give 21 families each a bag of gifts this year. Each family provided for has between two to eight children and each individual bag cost around $200.
