Swan Valley home destroyed by a heater caused fire

A Swan Valley home burned to the ground after a propane heater started the home on fire Monday night.

According to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, a call came in last night of a home burning near Swan Valley. The home on Snake River Road was outside the Swan Valley Fire District and so the sheriff’s office organized an effort with the Ammon Fire Department to respond to the fire.

When teams arrived they found a single wide home completely engulfed in flames but no other structures were being threatened by the fire. Deputies were able to talk with a person who had been in the home and were told that a portable propane stove had caught fire and quickly spread to the home. The person was the only one home at the time.

The home was a complete loss and the fire is still being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
