Detailed Forecast for Dec. 27, 2016

Clouds quickly moving in as our next winter storm moves in. Expect most of the heavy snow to stay up into the high country but a few inches can be expected in parts of the Snake River Plain. Clearing trend begins later on Wednesday for the rest of the year!

Tuesday, starting out partly to mostly cloudy with snow showers in the central mountains. Snowfall will spread across the rest of the region by the afternoon. Increasing winds means evening travel could be difficult in some places, best times would be in the morning, or to wait until Wednesday afternoon. Highs will top out in the 20’s.

Tonight, snow showers along with blowing snow will make travel difficult. Temps staying steady around 20°. Chance of snow 70%.

Wednesday, a chance of morning snow showers for everyone, with just a few lingering by the afternoon near the WY/ID state line. Winds will start out blustery, but they should also die down by the afternoon. Highs staying into the 20’s and then dropping quickly during the evening.

Thursday, a nice winter day. Highs in the teens and 20’s with partly cloudy to mostly clear skies. A good skiing, snowmobiling, or sledding kind of day.
