Christmas fire destroys Island Park cabin

Update12/28/2016 12:50 pm: A member of the Beck Family contacted Local New 8 and KIDK 3 Eyewitness news to inform us that the money raised on the GoFundMe page will be donated to Fremont County Emergency and Fire services.

Original Story: Fire destroyed a cabin at 3311 Yale-Kilgore Road in Island Park early Christmas morning.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was reported at around 2:53 a.m. Sunday at a cabin owned by David Beck.

Island Park Fire District Chief Nathaniel Brandenihl said the fire apparently started as a chimney fire that spread into the roof of the cabin by the time firefighters arrived.

Around 11 people were in the cabin at the time of the fire. One 21-year-old male was transported to Madison Memorial Hospital for back injuries. There were no other reported injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office said the cabin was built within the past year.

A Go-Fund-Me account has been established to help the family recover from the fire and the man’s injuries. You can find a link here
