Preston man killed in highway crash

A Preston man was killed Monday night in a crash on US 91, near 350 East, in Preston.

Idaho State Police said Manuel Davila-Matinez,59, was driving a 1974 Chevrolet pickup. They said he was attempting to enter the left-hand turn lane from the left lane of travel when he lost control on ice and entered the oncoming lane.

Amanda J. Baker, 34, of Preston was northbound in a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and struck Baker’s pickup head-on.

Neither Davila Martinez nor his passenger, Gildardo Davila, 37, of Preston wore seat belts. Baker and her minor passenger were wearing seat belts. All were taken to Franklin County Medical Center in Preston.

Davila-Martinez died as a result of his injuries at the hospital.
