Man arrested after fighting a deputy during a traffic stop

Stetson J. Carillo, 20, is in custody after striking a Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office deputy. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy made a routine traffic stop on Vassar Way in Idaho Falls. They believed a wanted suspect was in the vehicle. Deputies said the man gave a false name. However, Carillo’s father came out of a nearby home and identified him. Carillo had an active misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear at an arraignment. When deputies attempted to take him into custody, Carillo began to fight with deputies and struck one of them in the face with his elbow. Carillo ran away but was found hiding in a nearby backyard moments later. Carrillo was booked on the original misdemeanor warrant and new charges of “felony battery upon certain personnel” and misdemeanor charges of providing false information to an officer. The deputy was treated by medical personnel for a minor injury to his arm.
