Money available to help those with heating needs

It’s the time of the year when the temperature drops and your heating bills rise. There is help available to pay those bills.

It’s called the Energy Assistance program and it’s available to those who qualify with a certain income level.

The program has been extended this year and if you haven’t already applied, you still have time.

“It is really easy to apply for it. If they call into our main office here, they can ask for instructions on how to do it. We have many people that are applying over the phone, online, can fax or scan documents in and send it. They don’t even have to come in person in many cases,” said Jay Doman, Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership CEO.

The program is scheduled to go until February 28, assuming that applications exhaust the pool of money set aside the program.

The program has helped over 6,500 people in eastern Idaho.
