Jackson works to remove “Heck-of-A Hill”

The Town of Jackson is taking steps to accelerate melting of a giant pile of snow at the Fairgrounds parking lot. Public Works department crews will use large moving equipment to spread the pile beginning Monday. For safety reasons, crews will also remove the dog park and move recycling bins to the eastern portion of the rodeo property south of the tennis courts. Once the work is complete the recycling bins will be returned to the west end of the Fairgrounds parking area. It is not clear when the dog park will reopen. To public works personnel, the snow pile is affectionately known as “Heck-of-a Hill”. They estimate it at 55 feet tall and about 250 feet wide. It contains about 75,000 cubic yards of snow.
