Officials ask for help in finding person who dumped livestock on road

The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the person who dumped around 14 calve carcasses on the side of Oxford road.

The calves do have green tags in their ears, but no other markings. Deputies said the calves looked like they have been there for a while.

Ranchers in the area said the calves probably died during the winter and the owner decided to dump them on the side of the road.

Ranchers said this winter was tough on the livestock, but dead animals can be taken to a special landfill or buried in a designated spot on the ranchers property.

One of the concerns of the dead calves, is ranchers do not know if the dead animals are carrying any diseases. And since the animals are near running water that goes through farms, potential diseases and bacteria could easily spread to other animals.
