Breast cancer survivor takes on Mt. Everest
A local Idaho Falls women kicks breast cancer’s butt and now is ready to take on Mt. Everest.
Lisa King, 43, was diagnosed with cancer two years ago when she was 41, she went in for her first ever mammogram and doctors found cancer.
King who works as a nurse and mother of two little girls said she attributes early detection for saving her life.
“Having cancer is challenging and getting through it and I think this trek is also challenging and I’m looking forward to the challenge and it’s my choice and I get to cross this off of my bucket list because I’m choosing too,” King said.
King along with her husband will be heading to join other cancer survivors from across the country on a climb to Base Camp at Mt. Everest.
On their trek, King and husband Kevin will carry Tibetan Prayer Flags that will be staked at the peak of Mt. Everest.
“The Tibetan Prayer Flags symbolize hope, strength, and well-being for the people honored on them and are placed at high mountain peaks across the globe,” King said.
The trek is organized by Radiating Hope, a charitable organization with a mission to improve cancer care across the globe, and EIRMC will be sponsoring King on her climb.
