Local News 8 among organizations honored by Intermountain Donor Services

Local News 8 is among a handful of businesses and organizations to be recognized by Intermountain Donor Services for helping raise awareness for organ donation.

At a ceremony Wednesday morning, Intermountain presented plaques to the groups they wanted to honor for their work. Local News 8 received recognition for the “Stories of Hope” series aired during November and December of last year. The stories centered around different people who benefited from organ donation.

Other businesses and organizations honored included: Chukars Baseball Association, Gem State Dialaysis, Wood Funeral Home, and Compass Academy.

A Compass Academy anatomy and physiology class created a project to raise awareness for organ donation by creating info-graphics, Idaho Transportation Department later used those graphics for a campaign. “I really appreciate how much they dove into this project and you know it became one of our favorite projects of the entire year,” said Kristin Hadley, Science Facilitator at Compass Academy. Hadley added she wished some of the students who worked on the project could have been there to accept the award with her.
