Flood Warning for Portneuf River

A Flood Warning has been issued for the Portneuf river in Bannock county, Idaho.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello says the river in the Inkom and Blackrock areas is expected to rise into Thursday afternoon.

The NWS says, Minor flooding is occurring and the Portneuf River will continue rising to near 9.9 feet. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.

The NWS says, at 10.0 feet significant flooding of agricultural land will occur around Inkom . Lowland flooding will occur along sections of the river in Pocatello, from Portnuef Gap to the Cheyenne Avenue Bridge and downstream of the concrete channel beginning at Sacajawea Park. Persons near the river should be aware of the expected high water and take action to protect property. A Flood Advisory has also been issued for Bear Lake County, due to snowmelt. Minor flooding continues across portions of the Bear lake area. Flooding of fields and low lying areas continues in the Dingle and Pegram area. The Bear River at Border has slowed some as of Monday morning. However, more rain is expected on Monday and with the next weather disturbance on Wednesday and Thursday. Additional rain fall of near one inch is expected. Local streams and fields could see additional rises and ponding of water.
