Idaho Falls Girls Federation host walk-a-thon

Idaho Falls students put on a walk-a-thon Saturday afternoon at Ravsten Stadium. The walk-a-thon was to bring awareness to preventing domestic violence. This was spearheaded by the Idaho Falls High School Girls Federation, and they used the acronym S.A.V.E. — steps against violence every day.

“It’s something I feel very strongly about and the girls do as well. We sat down last spring and decided that this would be a good event to put on,” Amanda Wade, the IFHS Girls Federation advisor.

“We’re just walking around the track and then we got donations from companies and some of them are donating a certain amount of money for every lap that we walk,” a member of the group said.>

These were some of the same girls who organized putting up sticky notes around Rigby High School Friday, to be in solidarity with them throughout a tragic week.
