Fifth annual ‘Idaho Gives’ brings in $1.3 million

Idahoans donated more than $1.3 million to more than 600 nonprofits and charities Thursday as part of “Idaho Gives,” the 24-hour, online fundraising blitz.

Organizers say nearly 10,500 people made donations to help the causes of nonprofits taking part in the fifth annual statewide fundraiser.

Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest once again attracted the most donations, collecting around $40,500. Meanwhile, The Idaho Humane Society attracted the highest amount of donors, with 555 people giving more than $26,500.

Last year, roughly 800 nonprofits and charities raked in around $1 million.

Stemming from similar events taking places in several other states, the fundraising – for groups ranging from Big Brothers Big Sisters to Idaho Youth Ranch and the Boise Bicycle Project – unfolded almost entirely online
