Nye nominated to U.S. District Court, again
President Donald Trump has formally nominated 6th District Judge David C Nye of Pocatello to fill an open U.S. District Court judgeship in Idaho. Judge Nye was previously nominated last year by President Obama. His nomination was unanimously approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The nomination never came to a vote in the 114th Congress. “Idaho, like many other states, is facing a judicial emergency and needs a second District Court judge to help manage its caseload,” said Idaho Senator Mike Crapo. Idaho Senator James Risch added, “Judge Nye is a sound and principled jurist who has my full confidence.” Nye’s nomination is one of the first district judicial nominations by the Trump administration. Nye is a graduate of Brigham Young University and the BYU J. Reuben Clark Law School. He has served as a 6th District Judge for 9 years. Prior to that, Nye was with the Pocatello law firm of Merrill and Merrill for 20 years. He and his wife Katre have 8 children.
