Two way traffic in store for section of I-15 near Idaho Falls

The Idaho Department of Transportation will initiate a new traffic pattern on Interstate 15 between the Lava Beds and the Bonneville County Line beginning Saturday morning. Crews will move traffic into a “crossover” lane. That will allow all traffic to share the northbound side of Interstate 15, reducing traffic to one lane in each direction while crews repave the southbound side. The crossover lanes will not allow vehicles to pass. All lanes of I-15 are expected to reopen by the end of summer. In the meantime, drivers are reminded to slow down for wide loads, plan extra time, pay attention, and slow down. Construction in that area includes replacing deteriorated pavement, upgrading sections of guardrail, and improving clearance under the bridges that cross I-15 at Base Line Road, River Road, Woodville Road (1500 North) and Woodville Church Road (700 North). This project is among 10 maintenance projects scheduled this year along 190 miles of Interstate 15.
