Grizzly bear relocated after Cody area visits

Wyoming Game and Fish personnel trapped and relocated a sub-adult female grizzly bear Monday. The bear had been frequenting residential areas and livestock calving pastures on private lands along the South Fork of the Shoshone River west of Cody. The bear was relocated to the Snake River drainage about 19 miles northwest of Moran. Grizzly bears are listed as “Threatened” under the Endangered Species Act. Game and Fish officials said bears can create conflicts after they have obtained food rewards. Relocation is a management tool to minimize conflicts between humans and grizzlies. The site of relocation was made in consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Grand Teton National Park to minimize the chance of future conflicts and maximize the survival of relocated bears.
