Light pole falls on SUV

UPDATE: 4:05 p.m.

High winds and low visibility have prompted the Idaho Transportation Department to close Interstate 15 between Idaho Falls and Roberts.

ITD has also closed Highway 32, between Tetonia and Ashton, due to high winds.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A number of localized power outages have been reported around eastern Idaho due to high winds.

The Idaho Falls Zoo was closed Wednesday for safety reasons.

The first night of “Alive After 5” was also canceled due to high winds.

Idaho Falls Power reported there were about 150 customers affected by localized power outages.

Fall River Electric reported 27 customers affected by a power outage near the Wyoming border.

A light pole fell onto an SUV behind Chesbro Music in downtown Idaho Falls Wednesday. It is not confirmed, but most likely wind-related.

Winds gusting to more than 100 miles per hour were recorded in parts of Blaine County Wednesday.

Along Interstate 15, gusts were ranging from 50 to 60 miles per hour. Gusts of 66 miles per hour were posted on the Idaho National Laboratory website.
