All lanes to open on I-15 work zone

The Idaho Transportation Department will temporarily open all lanes of a work zone between the Fort Hall Reservation Boundary and Burns Road in Blackfoot for the Memorial Day weekend. Crews have completed the first phase of construction on the six-mile work zone. Traffic will shift to the newly paved northbound lanes on Wednesday, May 31 and crews will begin resurfacing the southbound side. I-15 will once again be reduced to one lane in both directions. ITD Engineering Manager Dan Harelson said the project is on schedule. The project includes resurfacing 6 miles of I-15, upgrading guardrails, and improving clearance below the bridge structures at the Railroad Overpass, Ft. Hall Interchange, and Sheepskin Road. It is one of 10 construction projects scheduled this year on Interstate 15 in eastern Idaho.
