Days for Girls, local efforts in helping girls all over the world

There are girls all over the world who miss school because of their periods. Local groups are helping this issue by giving girls from different countries the sanitation supplies they need.

Days for Girls is the international organization that several east Idaho-made teams are helping. They gather and create supplies to help the girls manage their periods so they don’t have to miss school. Volunteers sew together sustainable hygiene kits to make these girls’ lives a little easier.

“We’re giving back the days. Which in a 3-year-period can equal about 180 days of school,” said Idaho Falls Days for Girls team leader Brenda Merchant.

“As many people as we can get can help out to make these kits because girls all over the world are in need,” said co-leader Penny Brizzee.
