Helicopter lands for Celebrate Blackfoot preparation

A Lakota Medical Evac helicopter landed at the Blackfoot Airport on Wednesday.

It flew in from Gowen Field in Boise. The Idaho National Guard flew this in for the pilot to measure the Jensens Grove area — to see if it is safe to land Blackhawk helicopters there for Celebrate Blackfoot. This is in preparation for the 2017 grand opening of the Idaho Civil Air Patrol Headquarters and Museum.

“We’re working with them to make the event a little more fun for everybody. So bringing in these military helicopters shows pride in what our troops are doing and gives people the opportunity to mix in and talk to the soldiers and pilots — the people that are actually boot-on-the-ground doing the work,” said Col. George Breshears, with the Civil Air Patrol.

Celebrate Blackfoot will be from June 30 to July 1.
