Man arrested after attempting to run from police

A man who tried to run away from Pocatello Police was caught and arrested Tuesday. Pocatello Police said they spotted Carlos Nicholas Torres, 38, driving a vehicle in the 300 block of West Bridger at around 11:42 a.m. An officer attempted to pull Torres over on a traffic stop, but Torres attempted to drive away. Torres struck a patrol vehicle in the area of South Grant and Whitman and then ran away. He was found hiding in a shed about one block away. Torres was taken into custody without further incident. Police also found him in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, felony eluding an officer, an outstanding warrant, and an outstanding parole commission warrant.
