Christopher Tapp to hold fundraiser for Carol Dodge

Update 06/13/2017: The fundraising aspect of the benefit is canceled, but the concert will still go on.

Original Story: It has been a little over one month since Christopher Tapp was released from prison. Tapp is adjusting to life outside of prison well. He is grateful to be free but even more grateful for Carol Dodge. Now he wants to do what he can to give back to her.

Tapp along with several friends are putting together a big fundraiser for Dodge. The fundraiser is to help financially continue the case’s investigation.

“Before I had the New York Innocence Program financially helping us — the Idaho Innocence program helping us. Now that I’m not in prison, that there are other cases that they’re working on and pushing forward with. They’re still going to support me to be there, but financially the money has to go to other resources in other cases that they’re working on,” Tapp said.

He said Dodge and the case are what we need to direct our attention to now.

“But in the scheme of life, everyone is forgetting Carol — they’re forgetting Angie. You know, I love the community for their support and love they have given me since my release, but they’re forgetting the other side of the coin where there’s still an unsolved murder that’s going on,” Tapp said.

And several of Tapp’s friends who manage Idaho Falls businesses want to pitch in where they can. The event will be presented by Grease Monkey and Lend Me An Ear Cellular.

“We were talking about helping with Angie’s mom, getting involved in being able to do DNA testing and stuff. We looked at it as something we could help with the community to be able to support,” said Chris Dougan, the manager for Grease Monkey.

“We’ve done things together with Grease Monkey, so we just figured this would be a great opportunity for us to help Carol find the killer — which I’m pretty sure we’re going to, because we’re not going to give up,” said Manny Ibarra, marketing director for Lend Me An Ear Cellular.

“Part of the reason I’m released today is because of her. In the scheme of everything, she is like a second mother to me. I truly love the woman, and there ain’t nothing in this world I wouldn’t do for her,” Tapp said.

The fundraiser is set for August 12 at the Civic Auditorium in Idaho Falls. It will be a concert for all ages, and there will also be a silent auction.
