Pocatello police investigate video appearing to show officer sleeping on-duty

The Pocatello Police Department is investigating video an officer who appears to have been captured sleeping at a police substation. The video was posted to YouTube on Monday.

“The Pocatello Police Department is aware of the video and the investigation is ongoing,” Chief Scott Marchand said. “City policy does not permit sleeping while on duty.”

In the video, which has just over 200 views as of Saturday afternoon, you can see a man standing outside the substation.

“This is what Pocatello police do while they are getting paid,” the video’s owner, Peter Anestos, can be heard saying.

During the video, Anestos points his camera at a police squad car, which appears to be running.

“I’m pretty sure he is not suppose to be sleeping,” Anestos said about 20 seconds into the video.

The name of the officer has not been released.

“As this is a personnel matter, we cannot release any more information,” Marchand said.
