Businesses see increase in sales thanks to the heat

Whether you like the heat or not, a lot of businesses are benefiting from the recent heat wave.

Some hardware stores in Pocatello are having a hard time keeping bug spray on their shelves as people head out to camp. And other places are seeing a spike in garden and home improvement sales.

It is not just hardware stores who have seen an influx in sales though. The Old Town Ice Cream and Candy Shop in Pocatello said they are having a hard time keeping popular ice cream flavors in stock.

“I definitely have to order more often…The more popular flavors I am running out of quicker so I have to get them down here faster,” commented Jeni Meusborn, the manager at Old Town Ice Cream and Candy.

And finally, air conditioning companies are gearing up for lots of maintenance and installation calls.

“I have three service men running and they are probably going to work 10 to 12 hours, rest of the three days this week. Plus we are already starting to get them booked clear up into next week, said Robert Jensen, the owner of Vogts Heating & Air.
