Menan toddler passed away after falling in canal

A three-year-old Jefferson County child was flown to EIRMC after being pulled from a canal near her Menan home.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office, the girl’s mother called 911 around noon Monday after her daughter disappeared from their yard on the 600 block of N 3515 E.

Crews from the sheriff’s office were able to locate the child face down in a canal one mile from her home. She was unresponsive.

The canal runs in front of the home. The child was flown to EIRMC. Her condition is unknown.
