Bonneville school board cancels August bond election

The Bonneville School Board has voted to cancel its call for an August building bond election. On June 28, the board voted 3-2 to seek voter approval of a $58,500,000 general obligation bond that would build a new middle school, a special education hub, and pay for other building improvements at Iona and Falls Valley schools. Three school board trustees were sworn to new terms Wednesday night, including new trustee Scott Lynch. Since Lynch had never voted on the bond proposal and there was not unanimous agreement by the then-serving board, the board decided last night to rescind its earlier decision to proceed with the bond election. The school board stated it wants additional time to review the district’s building needs and further discuss the best plan to pay for them.
