BYU-I commencement set Tuesday

Brigham Young University-Idaho will award 1,695 bachelor’s degrees and 404 associate degrees during its 2017 Spring Semester Commencement Tuesday. The event is scheduled at 5:45 p.m. in the BYU-Idaho Center. Elder J. Devn Cornish, a General Authority Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be the keynote speaker. Cornish has served in numerous Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Guatemala-El Salvador Mission. He received his medical doctor degree from Johns Hopkins University. Cornish will be accompanied by Elder Kim B. Clark, General Authority Seventy and Commissioner of the Church Educational System. Clark served as president of BYU-Idaho from 2005-15. Of this semester’s 2,080 graduates, 1,245 are women and 835 are men. More than 50 percent have served as missionaries for the Church.
