Five injured in single vehicle rollover on Highway 28

UPDATE 6:23 p.m.: Idaho State Police say a blown tire is responsible for a single vehicle rollover on Highway 28 Northwest of Mud Lake Sunday afternoon.

ISP said Travis Gneiting, 44, of Terreton was driving south in his Chevrolet Blazer when one of the tires lost its tread causing the Blazer to leave the road and overturn.

Five other people were in the vehicle. All of them except Gneiting were thrown from the vehicle.

One of the passengers, Kathy Gneiting, of Paris, ID, was taken to EIRMC by air ambulance. Three juveniles were taken by air ambulance.

None of the occupants were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The roadway was completely blocked for approximately one and a half hours.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

UPDATE 4:12 p.m.: KIFI/KIDK reporter Michaela Leung says the road is now reopened. Traffic is still slow. One person was transported to the hospital by air ambulance. Idaho State Police say a blown tire caused the accident.

ORIGINAL STORY: Idaho State Police have shut down Highway 28 near Wadsworth Road following a serious injury crash.

Ambulances from Jefferson and Clark Counties, along with two air ambulances have been called to the scene. A KIFI/KIDK viewer said one air ambulance has already landed.

There is no word on how many people are hurt or what caused the crash.
