Man charged for pointing fake gun at car

A Rexburg man faces misdemeanor assault charges after pointing a gun at a car. Rexburg Police said 22-year-old Romney Jacob Pratt was riding a bike when a car passed at around 2:42 a.m. Sunday. People in the car called police to complain the man pointed a gun at them. Police found the suspect, but he did not have any weapons in his possession. However, further investigation discovered Pratt tossed away a realistic fake gun before police made contact with him. Police said the weapon was an airsoft gun, but the orange tip of the gun had been sawed off. When the victims learned the gun was fake, they did not want the man to be charged with felony aggravated assault. Pratt was cited for misdemeanor assault.
