Firefighters monitor Ibex fire near Twin Peaks Lookout

The Salmon-Challis National Forest is using a helicopter to fight and monitor the “Ibex” fire on the Middle Fork Ranger District. The lightning-caused fire was estimated at 30 acres and was burning in sub-alpine fir and lodgepole pine. It is located 11 miles west of Twin Peaks Lookout in steep, inaccessible terrain. The fire was burning to the north/northeast. More thunderstorms are expected in the area over the next few days.
