Trailer fire blocks Interstate 15 traffic

Update 4:00 p.m. Idaho State Police reports 31-year-old Scott Vahsholtz of Weston was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Officials said Vahsholtz slowed for heavy traffic, and when he applied the brakes, the trailer jack-knifed.
The lane was blocked for approximately 4.5 hours. Update 2:00 p.m. Idaho State Police are cleaning up a single-vehicle semi-trailer crash on Interstate 15 near milepost 118. The Idaho Falls Fire Department was called to the crash at approximately 11:39 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters said the driver of the tractor trailer was towing a flatbed with a horse trailer on the flat bed. They said the truck veered off to the left side of the highway and struck a guard rail.
The impact of that crash ruptured the fuel tank. Fuel leaked out and was ignited. Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire. The driver of the truck was able to escape and was not injured. No other vehicles were involved. There were no horses in the trailer. State Police said all lanes of the interstate have been cleared and lanes are open.
