New round of road projects to begin this weekend

Idaho Falls construction crews plan three different projects over the next week. Track Utilities will be doing emergency fiber repairs on Utah Avenue. That work will require a full closure of the street from the Broadway and Utah Avenue intersection south to Houston Street. It will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday and continue until 6 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured. One lane of Utah Avenue will open for southbound traffic Monday morning. Northbound traffic will be detoured using Houston Street and Houston Circle. The project will also include asphalt repairs and repainting. The work should be done by noon on Monday. The second major project will call for concrete and asphalt work on Garfield Street from Winston Avenue to Kelsey Avenue. That section of roadway will close to through traffic Tuesday and traffic will be detoured to Halsey Street until August 7. On Park Avenue, East Idaho Railroad will replace railroad crossing panels at Park Avenue near the Idaho Falls Library. Park Avenue will close on August 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can review detailed information about the city’s construction plans here.
