More than $115,000 in art stolen from Wyoming galleries

Police say one or more thieves in Wyoming have made off with more than $115,000 worth of art.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports several pieces of art have gone missing from multiple galleries, but a Henry Farny painting that disappeared on July 31 is worth $100,000.

Employees at Trailside Galleries didn’t notice the Farny painting was missing until Aug. 1 because the suspect or suspects replaced it with a different piece of the gallery’s art. The painting was supposed to be auctioned in September at the Jackson Hole Art Auction.

Police say it’s unknown if the thefts are connected.

Other items stolen include a sculpture valued at $6,500 and a Native American-style Lakota horse mask valued at $9,750.
