Lost hiker found safe

UPDATE:

John Milburn walked out of a Mount Borah trail Friday, safe and unharmed. He told Custer County Sheriff’s department officials that he got lost, then decided to wait till morning to hike out of the back country.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A Pocatello man never came back from a Thursday morning hike up Mount Borah in Custer County.

According to family members, 65-year-old John Milburn was last seen at 11,500 Feet, on the Mt Borah trail, at approximately 11:45 AM.

The Son-in-law to Milburn says, “Hikers who were headed down the trail told his friend whom he was hiking with, they saw him heading up the mountain but had not reached the peak yet.”

Family members have contacted the Custer County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Mountain Search & Rescue. Search and rescue operations will begin early Friday morning, the family says.

John Milburn is 5′ 8″ and about 175 lbs. According to other hikers, he was wearing an orange sweatshirt and khaki shorts. If you see this man please call 9-1-1 or the Custer County Sheriff’s Office (208) 588-2676
