Gulls swirl near Pocatello

An estimated 100 to 200 birds swirled near a Pocatello neighborhood for hours Wednesday afternoon.

Idaho Fish and Game Department spokesperson Jennifer Jackson said it appears the birds are Franklin Gulls. She said they were probably in the middle of a migration and came upon insects that may have been stirred up by harvest activity in the region. On Wednesday, they were swirling near Satterfield Drive.

On Tuesday, there were similar reports on the south side of Pocatello.
