Former Pocatello policeman in custody

A one-time Pocatello Police Officer is being held in Bend, Oregon in connection with the deaths of his parents.

William Paul “Willie” Taylor, 48, of Nampa is a suspect in the deaths of Paul Robert Taylor,76, and Mary Jane Taylor,77, both of Nampa. William Taylor was taken into custody early Friday morning on unrelated charges in Deschutes County, Oregon.

Nampa Police were called to an address in the 1900 block of West Flamingo at around 8 p.m. Thursday. They found two dead persons at the home and determined the nature of their deaths was suspicious.

Evidence at the home and during his arrest indicated the two victims were Taylor’s parents.

Taylor’s last known address was at his parents’ address in Nampa. According to police, Taylor was a former Nampa Police Reserve Officer from June 1990 to October 1991. He left Nampa to take a job with the Pocatello Police Department from October 28, 1991, to December 20, 1996.

Taylor was being held on a Canyon County warrant for felony failure to report a death. He was being held on $1,000,000 bond. Additional charges are pending in Deschutes County.
