Structure fire burns west of Pocatello

Fire destroyed a home on the west side of Pocatello late Thursday morning.

According to a police detective, no one was home at the time of the fire. The fire was reported by neighbors who saw a fire in the garage area and called 9-1-1.

The home is located at Peppergrass Point and Wildhorse Ridge off Gibson Jack Road in west Pocatello.

The homeowner, Randy Toone, says he estimates he lost about three million dollars worth of sports memorabilia in his custom-made home. This includes signed baseballs, basketballs, and cards. He also has 14 cats, which he believes ran off during the fire.

The city fire marshal was expected to arrive at the home sometime Friday to begin to determine what caused the fire.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office.
