Jobless rate in Wyoming stays at 4 percent in August

Wyoming’s unemployment rate remained unchanged from July to August at 4 percent.

The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the state jobless rate is significantly lower than a year ago when it was 5.2 percent in August 2016 It also is lower than the current national rate of 4.4 percent.

From July to August, county unemployment rates followed their normal seasonal pattern and fell modestly. The largest decreases were seen in Niobrara, Fremont, Sweetwater and Hot Springs counties.

Fremont County had the highest unemployment rate in August at 4.7 percent. It was followed by Natrona at 4.5 percent, Campbell at 4.2, and Converse and Sweetwater both at 3.8. The lowest county unemployment rates were 1.6 percent in Teton County, 2.4 percent in Niobrara and 2.6 percent in Crook.
