New co-operative swim team forms in Pocatello area

The Idaho High School Activities Association sanctioned swimming as a new sport for Idaho high schools this year.

The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District has embraced this opportunity for students and developed a co-operative team.

In a co-operative team organization, all school’s students practice together and compete together as one team at dual and local meets. During district and state competition they compete individually or as a team for their own school.

The team, competing as the PHC Swim Team, currently has 50 students; 4 from Pocatello High School, 27 from Highland High School and 19 from Century High School.

Each athlete wears a swim cap with their individual school’s logo and colors.

The District has entered into a rental agreement with ISU for use of their pool for student practices and to host swim meets.
