Bonneville School District chooses architect for possible new school

The Bonneville School District Board has chosen an architect to design its possible new middle school or elementary school.

The Thursday night vote was to go with NBW Architects of Idaho Falls. The next step is working on negotiations and coming up with a work agreement. If they cannot come to terms, the district will then go with Hummel Architects instead. Board members are still in discussion about whether to put a bond on the ballot for a new middle school or a new elementary school with a section of the building dedicated for students with special needs.

“The board currently is trying to determine the best course forward. We need more classroom space, we need it at the elementary and the middle-school level. The board is trying to determine how to best pursue that: whether we should pursue the elementary first, the middle school first or do both at the same time,” said John Pymm, the district’s maintenance and operations director.

The board is in the process of that discussion and now they have an architectural firm to help provide information to make a decision.
